Kheri Price defends Championship title in record breaking time, submits Cat Zingano in 14 seconds

"Don't let this take away from everything Cat did to get to this point. She's an incredible fighter who came into this match undefeated, and every bit deserved the chance at a title. She got ahead of herself and left an opening for me, that's all. I'm ecstatic that I won, that I broke a record and got to keep my belt, but I'm not going to celebrate by putting down other women in the sport."

"When I was growing up, I was more than a handful - constantly getting into things and driving my parents crazy - so they enrolled me in a dance class thinking that'd be a good way to get rid of excess energy. Within a week or two I was kicked out for being "too rough" with the other girls. They tried other activities but nothing really worked for me. Eventually, they sent me to Judo class with a cousin of mine on a whim, and I loved it as much as a six year old could love it. It was more fun than passion until I was about ten or eleven and I realized how happy it really made me and how much I wanted to do this. The thing is, a lot of people see a little girl in a sport like that and think it's something unusual or that it shouldn't happen. I got a lot of flack for it, and so did my parents for letting me. The thing is, I have a lot of selfish reasons for doing what I do. I love it. It makes me happy. But in the end it's not really just about me or any of the other women in Mixed Martial Arts right now. It's about paving the way for the next girl who decides she wants to follow in our footsteps, so people won't look at her and treat her like she's a freak. Her hopes and dreams are just as valid as anyone else's."
